Phassa

“Phassa” or senses are when we are affected by external stimuli that affect our emotions and form a feeling before being manifested in the form of an action. In other words, “phassa” is something that is related to our mind and emotion and serves to combine these two things together until they form three dharmas, namely emotions, objects, and spirits. There are six senses (phassa) comprising eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body and mind.
The “Phassa” exhibition is a collection of experiences and feelings that occur in different ages. It is conveyed in the form of the blurring of human and animal shapes. In other words, these indistinct shapes are “representatives” of our “memories” from the past.
Events of each age create an impact on different emotional sensations. Looking back on certain events or what happened at certain moments in the memory causes “consciousness” similar to the clouding of sediment from impact. Therefore, some of resulting images are blurry while some are clear.
These are the things that shape our current thoughts and understandings including living in the present, looking back on the past, and bringing those images to be reflected and conveyed in the form of paintings.
